They’re famous moments from the past 50 years that are instantly recognisable. Can you remember where you were when Cathy Freeman won Olympic Gold? Does the image of Scott and Charlene tying the knot in an episode of Neighbours in 1988 immediately spark fond memories and bring a smile to your face? Or maybe the opening of the now world famous Sydney Opera House in 1962 is a favourite image?
But what would they look like in a LEGO® Universe?
Well that’s exactly what we’re going to find out – with your help. We’ve compiled an initial list of 25 of some of the most popular and favourite Australian moments that have taken place since the LEGO brick first arrived in the country 50 years ago.
Now it’s over to you, Australia. We are asking YOU to choose the final 10 moments that will be recreated with LEGO Minifigures and photographed by British photographer Mike Stimpson to be immortalised forever.
Mike Stimpson has used LEGO bricks & Minifigures to duplicate everything from Buzz Aldrin’s first steps on the moon to Maradona’s infamous ‘hand-of-god’ in the 1986 soccer World Cup. You can see some of the iconic photographs from around the world that Mike has already created here.
